Customers who arrive on a bad day
JC AutoWorks is a NAPA-certified collision repair shop on Old Sambro Road in Harrietsfield, serving Halifax and the wider HRM. It handles collision repair, dents and body work, painting and refinishing, frame straightening on its own frame rack, and classic and custom restoration.
Most people looking up a body shop have just had an accident, or found a crease in a door they cannot explain. They are stressed, they are usually on a phone, and they want two answers quickly: can this shop fix my car, and what happens with my insurance claim. The site's job is to answer both above the fold and make the next step obvious.
That is why it is one page. A driver after an accident is not browsing. One page means one scroll from the problem to the phone number, with nothing to get lost in and no menu to decode with a shaking thumb. The navigation is there for anyone who wants to jump, but nobody has to use it.
One page, in the order a driver thinks
The site is a single page, built as a custom website with no template underneath. It runs in the order a driver's questions come. The top says what the shop is and where it is, shows the 4.6 rating across 48 Google reviews, and puts a call button within reach of a thumb. Below that, five services are explained in plain language, ending with estimates: bring the car by for a look and a written estimate before any work starts.
A gallery shows recent repairs that came through the Harrietsfield shop, then seven written reviews from customers, each tied to the car or the job. The visit section has the address, the hours (Monday to Thursday, 8 to 5, and Friday, 8 to 4), a one-tap directions link and the line that answers the insurance question directly: call ahead, and the shop handles the claim from there.
Behind the page is structured data describing the business as an auto body shop, with its address, service area and opening hours, so search engines and maps have the facts in a form they can use. The footer carries a credit back to the studio, one of only two client sites that does.
What changed
The shop has a site that reads like the shop: direct, specific and local. On 16 September 2026, Lighthouse scored it 98 for performance, 91 for accessibility and 100 for SEO on desktop, with the largest element painting in 1.0 seconds.
The 4.6 rating across 48 reviews is the shop's own work, earned in the bay, not something the website produced. What the website does is put it where a nervous driver sees it first. We do not yet have call or estimate counts to show what the page has done for the phone, and we would rather say that than guess.
The page also does quieter work. The structured data gives search engines and maps the shop's hours, address and service area in a form they can read directly, so the facts a driver sees in a search result match the facts on the page. That consistency is most of what local search asks of a small business.
What we would do differently
- Show the before and after. The shop has matched before-and-after photo pairs that are not on the page yet. For a body shop, a slider that lets a driver drag between the damage and the finished repair is more convincing than any sentence.
- Close the accessibility gap on phones. Accessibility scored 91 on desktop and 88 on the phone run, on the same day. Phone speed is also below desktop, mostly from gallery photo weight, so it is not in the strip above.
- Track calls from launch. A body shop lives on the phone. Counting taps on the call button from day one would turn this page from a description into a result.
