Atlantic Canada Website Price Index 2026.

We opened the websites of 113 web design businesses based in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador and wrote down every price they publish. Most publish none. Here is what the other 24 say a small-business website costs, with a link to every figure.

01

Headline findings

79%of the 113 businesses checked publish no website price on their own site (89 of 113).
$1,250median published starting price for a one-time build (22 businesses).
$297 to $10,000range of published starting prices. Eight start under $1,000.
3 of 23include hosting in the cheapest one-time price. Most do not say either way.
  • Most prices are hidden. Only 24 of 113 Atlantic Canadian web design businesses publish a website build or website subscription price. The other 89 ask for a quote.
  • The published middle is about $1,250. Among the 22 that publish a one-time starting price, the median is $1,250. Eleven start between $1,000 and $2,999, and three start at $3,000 or more.
  • Entry prices buy small sites. Of the 19 businesses that say how many pages their cheapest tier includes, 16 cap it at five pages or fewer, and five of those are one-page sites.
  • Monthly figures are common, monthly websites are not. 14 of 24 publish some monthly figure for care, hosting or maintenance, with a median of $54. Only two sell the website itself as a monthly subscription.

These are starting prices as each business publishes them, not what a typical client ends up paying. A starting price is the floor of a range, and the range is set by page count, copywriting, photography and integrations. For how those pieces add up over three years, see what a website actually costs in Nova Scotia.

02

By province and by type of business

Medians are shown only where at least five businesses publish a one-time starting price. Smaller groups are listed with their count so nobody reads a pattern into four data points.

Two businesses publish a monthly price only and have no one-time starting price, so the one-time medians use 22 of the 24.

Type labels are our reading of how each business describes itself. Two prices are published in US dollars (Social Spike and Go Smart Media). Leaving them out moves the overall median from $1,250 to $1,400.

03

What the cheapest tier includes

The entry package is where the published prices cluster, so it matters what it buys. From the 22 businesses with a one-time starting price:

  • Pages. 18 state a page count. Five entry tiers are a single page, three are up to three pages, seven are four or five pages, and three allow more (4 to 8, 10, and 15 pages).
  • Hosting. Two include it in the entry price: Ambrite Web Services for the first year, and Virtual Creations with no limit stated. Four say hosting or the domain is billed separately. The other 16 do not say.
  • Grants. One Prince Edward Island studio publishes its price after an $800 Atlantic Business Federation contribution ($380). We use the pre-grant figure, $1,180, so it compares with the others.

If you are comparing quotes, the hosting line is the one to ask about. A $500 site with hosting included for a year and a $900 site with hosting quoted separately can cost about the same by the end of year two.

04

Monthly and subscription pricing

Fourteen of the 24 publishers list at least one monthly figure. Most of these are care or hosting plans sold alongside a one-time build. The lowest monthly figure each business publishes ranges from $19.95 to $500, with a median of $54.

Website sold as a monthly subscription3$49, $99 and $195 a month

The two subscription offers are Cabot Trail Creative (from $49 a month with a 12-month minimum) and Corazza In-House Marketing (from $195 a month with nothing upfront).

Methodology

On 2 October 2026 we searched for web design agencies, studios, freelancers and marketing firms in the four Atlantic provinces, using web searches and the provincial listings on Clutch. A business was counted only if its own website places it in Atlantic Canada, by an address, a local phone number, or a plain statement of where it is based. Businesses that rank for Atlantic city names but are based elsewhere were left out.

For each business we opened the home page and any pricing, packages, services or FAQ page it links to. A business counts as publishing a price if a website build price or a website subscription price appears on its own site, whether as a package, a starting price, a range in an FAQ or a monthly plan. Prices for hosting or maintenance alone do not count as a website price. Every figure is recorded as written, with the page it appears on. Nothing was estimated.

  • Starting price means the lowest published one-time build price. Where a business publishes a range, we use the low end.
  • Exclusions. Sites that failed to load, parked domains, and businesses whose location we could not confirm were not counted. A few of those publish prices, and we left them out of every figure here rather than guess where they are.
  • Coverage. Halifax, Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John and St. John's are well covered. Smaller centres, especially in Labrador and central Newfoundland, are thinner. Directory listings lean toward larger firms, which publish prices less often than small shops.
  • Prices change. These are the figures on 2 October 2026. Check the source link before relying on any one of them.

Alp Web Studio, which compiled this index, sells websites: $800 to build, then $99 a month. It is excluded from every count, median and table on this page. Its full pricing is here, and you can see how the studio works in Halifax. The businesses below are listed as they present themselves, without comment on their work.

Q.01

How much does a small-business website cost in Atlantic Canada?

Among the 22 businesses that publish a one-time starting price, the median was $1,250 in October 2026. Published starting prices ran from $297 (stated in US dollars) to $10,000. Eight start under $1,000 and three start at $3,000 or more. These are entry prices, usually for five pages or fewer.

Q.02

Why do so few web designers in Atlantic Canada publish prices?

We did not ask, so the index cannot give their reasons. Several sites say work is quoted to scope. What the data shows is the result: 89 of the 113 businesses checked give no figure on their own site, so most buyers need a quote before they can compare.

Q.03

Is hosting included in a published starting price?

Rarely, as far as the sites say. Only 2 of 22 one-time starting prices include hosting, and one of those covers the first year only. Four businesses say hosting or the domain is billed separately, and the rest do not say. Ask before comparing two quotes.

Q.04

How was the index compiled, and how do I correct an entry?

We searched for web design businesses based in the four Atlantic provinces, opened each business's own website, and recorded any price exactly as written, with the page it appears on and the date checked. Nothing was estimated. If a price has changed or we got something wrong, email [email protected] and we will correct it.

Send us what you have been quoted. We will tell you what it includes and what it leaves out, even if the answer is that it is a fair deal.
